I can hear Annie lennox now . . . 'Sweet dreams are made of these, Who am I to disagree, Travel the world and seven seas, Everybody's looking for something.'
People seem to be looking everywhere: Craig's List, eBay, the classifieds, the yoga studio, Match.com, a workshop, a retreat, Google, herbs, a psychic.
Each of us has our own quest; a happier relationship, a healthy body, a quieter mind, financial freedom, or ___(fill in the blank). On the way to the goal, we are inundated with choices on the menu and can be confused when choosing which of the avenues before us we should take.
Neuro-Linquistic Programming (NLP) contains a vast body of transformative techniques, one of which is called Core Transformation. In this process, a facilitator guides someone to a meditative state, and asks a series of questions, leading the seeker to the very root of their quest. For example, someone seeking financial security may discover that, at the deepest level, the desire is for peace of mind;; another who wants a relationship may really be yearning for a loving connection to Source.
Peace, Love, Oneness, and Freedom are a few of these Core States, as they are called. The facilitator assists the person to achieve this Core State. The beauty of the NLP process is that the individual learns that the search was really for something much deeper, and that they can experience it by going within any time they choose.
What does this mean for any of us? We can shift the focus of any search to a quiet place inside. We can recognize that what our minds tell us we are looking for is really something much greater. What we are seeking was always within us. Then, we can truly enjoy the relationship, the money, and everything else in life as icing on a very scrumptious cake!
