PSYCH-K was originated by Robert M. Williams, M.A, and includes many concepts from psychology, spirituality, and neuroscience. PSYCH-K can have a profound impact on our biology which has been demonstrated by the work of cellular biologist Bruce Lipton, who wrote The Biology of Belief. Lipton describes the work on human genetics for the last 30 years, concluding that genetics only plays a role in only 2-5% of our experience. This means that 95-98% of human experience comes from the subconscious mind, and is therefore, changeable!
PSYCH-K incorporates aspects of Kinesiology, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Acupressure, Brain Gym, and other techniques.
In a session, Kinesiology, or muscle testing, is used to bridge communication between the conscious and subconscious minds, and to: discover limiting beliefs, obtain permission to change the belief, and reprogram the desired belief. Various “whole brain” techniques, including body postures or belief points which are related to acupressure points, may be used to stimulate both sides of the brain.
According to Rob Williams, “Changing subconscious beliefs that may be getting in the way of well-intentioned actions is similar to reprogramming a personal computer. Using PSYCH-K processes—a kind of "mental keyboard" to your own brain—you can increase "cross talk" between the two hemispheres of the cerebral cortex, thereby achieving a more "whole-brained" state, which is ideal for changing subconscious beliefs. In addition, when right and left hemispheres of the brain are in simultaneous communication, the qualities and characteristics of both hemispheres are available to maximize your full response potential to life's challenges.”
